This is a deepam kolam for deepavali or lakshmi pooja. Drawing kolams is our Indian tradition. There are various examples which signifies that this is an ancient culture. For example , it is said that goddess laxmi used to draw 3 lines on the cooking stove before cooking using rice flour.
